Mills River is located in Henderson County, North Carolina and incorporated into a city in June, 2003. Situated in the northwestern part of the Henderson County it covers roughly 22 square miles. An area of Mills River borders the Pisgah National Forest and is just minutes from Interstate 26 and the Asheville Regional Airport. Mills River is the 2nd largest town in Henderson County and is home the Mills River (South fork and North fork). Historically a mixture of agriculture and residential development, Mills River has recently gained acclaim as home to the new state of the art Sierra Nevada Brewery. Mills River is approximately 20 miles from downtown Asheville.
